Saturday vinyl hunt: EQD “Equalized #005″

Raves strikes back. Love parade. Raw. Just how it Hard Wax likes. The anonymous EQUALIZED series can be attributed to Shed aka René Pawlowitz aka WK7 (what a hit!). These straightforward pair of techno tracks concentrates pure energy that characterises the best Shed productions. Personally for me B-Side surely wins against the A-Side. Tip!

Bootleg vinyl hunt: Crackboy “Back To The Future”

Crackboy aka Krikor (remarkable Parisian producer) delivers chin-stroking shoe-gazing bootlegs on Joakim’s Tigersushi label. First track “Back To The Future” is a modern version of “The Future” by Prince. On the other side the track “Ebeneezer Knight” is a fattened up version of late 80s Manuel Gottsching-sampling Italo house classic “Sueno Latino” by Sueno Latino. Simple, effective, nothing over-worked, just tailor-made for dancing. Grab it fast. Vinyl only and very limited.

Classics vinyl hunt: Les Rythmes Digitales “Darkdancer”

Yes. Finally i found and bought this timeless album produced by Stuart Price aka Les Rythmes Digitales, aka Thin White Duke, aka Zoot Woman.  It was way ahead of it’s time in 1999 when it was released and sounds like the early 1980s dance music with the added modern electronic elements. This record was and is very important for the evolution of my music taste and it already got an important place in my vinyl shelf.

Saturday vinyl hunt: Koelsch “Speicher 70″

Here comes something for the dance-floor peak time. After his killing hit “Lorelei” which i used to play in almost all raves this year , a tall Danish guy Rune Riley aka Kölsch (named after Cologne’s local beer) continues the legendary speicher series on Kompakt label.  “Opa” is one of the most unusual but yet amazingly effective techno tracks this year. It’s steroid-driven funk with a heavily mental edge and powerful enough to lift the roof of any club. “Der Alte” pays tribute to Germany’s long running TV series “The Old Man” with a rather juvenile sounding piano anthem that sits comfortably between balearic disco and Detroit techno. Prost, Mr Kölsch!

Saturday vinyl hunt: Chris Carter “Moonlight”

Super release on Optimo Music –  a small Glasgow label runned by Keith McIvor aka JD Twitch.  First and original versions of “Moonlight” is a brilliant new-wave delicatessen originally released in 1985 for Chris Carter‘s “Mondo Beat” LP on Conspiracy International. For those who may not know, Chris Carter is one of the founding members of legendary industrial, avant-garde music and visual arts group Throbbing Gristle. On side B ”Moonlight” is getting a long-overdue reinterpretation from New York duo Neurotic Drum Band, who delivered a pure balearic hit by “ultra cosmic-a-fying it for an ultra-headtrip psychedelic spaceflight!”. Timeless record.

Saturday vinyl hunt: Rebolledo “Super Vato” LP

Extraordinary album from Maxican’s finest Rebolledo on extraordinary German-Chilean Mattias Aguayo label Cómeme. The cocktail of modern synth-wave, South American percussions and rule breaking melody structures.  “Super Vato” – a album of ten hypnotic tracks that pool together all temptations of the night. Cinematic beat music, full of psychedelic drill. A record like a John Carpenter movie: foggy, dark, thrilling, and full of scary special effect. With the help of befriended singers and musicians such as Rodrigo Cano, Matias Aguayo, Superpitcher, Diegors, Raquel Wolff, Miriam Torres, and Philipp Gorbachev he grooves towards a new horizon and keeps it raw and basic”. Check audio samples of LP on YouTube or preview the album on Kompakt’s website.
